The Optimist Club of Carrollton
The Optimist Club of
Carrollton was chartered December 1969 with 42 members, three
of who are members of the Club today.
Since then we have been actively involved in community
service. Members participate in the wide range of youth
projects and community activities providing opportunities for
young people to learn, grow, mature, and become productive
citizens.
Many members carry "service to youth" into their daily lives.
You will find Carrollton Optimist involved in scout
leadership, youth-league sports, education as teachers,
counselors, mentors, and tutors, plus a host of humanitarian
activities designed to help the needy and "to bring out the
best in kids."
Throughout its history the Carrollton Optimist Club has been a
leader among area civic organizations. In 1974 we became the
first multi-racial civic club in Carrollton/Carroll County.
The first female admitted to an all male Carrollton civic club
occurred in 1987 – she joined our Club and became an
outstanding Optimist leader – she remains so.
Purposes of the Optimist Club
